The rarest of rare Peter Pots pieces are stamped “Peter Pots Providence” along with our RI Red Rooster logo. These date from 1948 to 1953, when the pottery was still in the shadow of RI School of Design, on Meeting or Benefit Streets on the East Side of Providence. We moved to our present location in 1954 and dropped Providence in our name. This example is an exceptionally rare matte brown glaze and no others are known to exist. The design continued to be made into the 1960s, though the abstract designs were dropped in the 50s. The scalloped rectangle on the back is a line of self-adhesive felt. Perfect condition. About 6” x 6 1/4”.
